Sign up for U13 A (Rep) tryouts before August 30!

Rep tryouts begin on September 5, with a registration deadline of Wednesday August 30. More information about playing rep with VFIHA can be found here.

What is rep (A) hockey?
Rep is an option beginning at U13 that is aimed at players who are seeking a level of play that is more competitive and a greater focus on becoming highly proficient with skills and game play. Playing rep hockey does require a greater commitment of time and effort, and there is an additional cost, but for the player seeking to challenge themselves and develop their hockey skills to the fullest, it can be an exciting and rewarding option.

How does it differ from house (C) hockey?
Rep teams are selected after a series of tryouts where skill, attitude/effort, coachability and game play are evaluated. Players are free to try out for rep each season beginning at U13. The rep team plays other skilled teams from the Lower Mainland, similar to C hockey, but at a higher intensity. In addition to approximately four home games and three away games per month, the team also has at least one practice per week. Exclusive to the rep program is a Sunday development series at the Richmond Oval consisting of top instruction from Empower Hockey, Slap Shot Alley and UBC Women’s Hockey. These world-class instructors provide best-in-class skills development exclusive to VFIHA. This ensures a level of training not possible outside of the VFIHA Rep Program and at a great price thanks to the support of our wonderful providers. In addition to the regular season, rep teams compete for in playoffs and are eligible to contest for the Provincial Championships, which will be held in the North Okanagan region in March 2024. The team may also participate in both local and travel tournaments. Twice a year, our rep teams also play other teams from Vancouver Island in interlock games. Rep hockey is a great way to meet other hockey players from all over the province!
