What is the Indigenous Female Hockey Jamboree?
The Indigenous Female Hockey Jamboree is a weekend of hockey, community, and culture for Indigenous female players across BC. This event brings players together in a fun, competitive, and supportive environment with multiple games, skill development opportunities, and cultural connections.
Unlike a traditional tournament, a jamboree focuses on game play, development, and fostering a sense of belonging. Whether you are a seasoned player or new to the game, this event is for you!
Each team will have two games on each of the two game days.
Who Can Participate?
- Indigenous female hockey players from BC and Yukon and beyond who are currently registered with Hockey Canada
- Players & Goalies in U11 to U21
- Players of all skill levels are welcome!

Travel/Accommodation Subsidy
A $100 subsidy per player/goalie for the out-of-town families is available to those who register by June 30, 2026. Out-of-town is defined as those who live past Hope and Whistler or need to take a ferry to attend the jamboree. Payment will be made on the last day of the jamboree to those who have played all four if their team's games.
Schedule
The schedule is currently being planned. Updates will be provided here as we get progress.
The following schedule is as of April 18, 2026, and is subject to change:
- New Refs' Clinic: Thursday, September 3rd 10:00AM - 6:00PM and Friday, September 4th 11:45AM to 2:45PM.
- Returning Refs' Clinic: Friday, September 4th 10:00AM - 2:45PM
- Introduction to Coaching: Friday, September 4th 1:15 - 2:15PM
- Aboriginal Coaching Module: We are planning to have it split over the evenings of Thursday, September 3rd and Friday, September 4th
- Practices: Friday, September 4th mid to late afternoon
- Games: 2x game for each team on Saturday, September 5th and Sunday, September 6th
- Cultural Workshops: 1 per day for each team on Saturday, September 5th and Sunday, September 6th
BC Hockey Indigenous Officiating Clinics
Interested in becoming a hockey official or currently are one?
The jamboree will include:
- BC Hockey Indigenous Officiating Clinics for new and returning refs.
- All genders are welcome to register.
- The minimum age is 12 years old* as of December 31st, 2026 (adults are welcome!). *We are waiting on Hockey Canada to advise whether 11 years olds will be able to certify as an Entry Level 1 Official (able to ref U7 & U9 games). Email ref@vfiha.com to indicate your interest if this becomes available.
The new refs clinic will be held on Thursday, September 3rd and Friday, September 4th*.
The returning refs clinic will be held on Friday, September 4th*.
*On-ice training will be provided each day for all the clinics.
During your registration process for the jamboree, select the box "Send me information on certifying as a new/returning referee at the Jamboree" and we will keep you informed of what's involved in becoming a ref or re-certifying for the new season.

Aboriginal Coaching Module
We will be hosting an I-SPARC Aboriginal Coaching Module. We are planning to have it split over the evenings of Thursday, September 3rd and Friday, September 4th. This information will be updated once I-SPARC has finalized the arrangements.
It is a national Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) course and is beneficial for all coaches of all sports that coach Aboriginal athletes. The featured modules include:
- Holistic approaches to coaching
- Dealing with racism in sport
- Health, lifestyle and nutrition
