Expectations at Tournaments
As members of the VFIHA community, please review the Codes of Conduct that all VFIHA members (team officials, players, and parents) should abide by. This includes behaviour on and off the ice. All VFIHA members should consistently display high personal standards, modeling behaviour that is expected of others, and projecting a favourable image of the sport of hockey. We are always representing the Vancouver Angels!
Alcohol, Drugs, and Tobacco
According to the BC Hockey Policy Manual, alcohol, drugs, and tobacco are prohibited at all sanctioned BC Hockey events, including out of town tournaments.
Policy 4.06:
ALCOHOL, DRUGS AND TOBACCO ARE PROHIBITED
- a) At the players’ bench, in dressing rooms or in public, non-licensed areas.
- b) In buses or cars when traveling to and from a sanctioned event.
- c) By adults in a position of responsibility of a minor team.

- e) Use of any tobacco, cannabis and smoke-less products (e.g. vaporizers) is prohibited by participants, coaches/leaders during BC Hockey sanctioned events.
Hotel
Ideally, team personnel and players should not share accommodations, regardless of the cost saving benefits. If sharing a room is unavoidable, be sure that the “Rule of Two” rule is observed at all times.
Zero Tolerance for Hotel Conduct:
All players and their families are expected to adhere to the rules and guidelines set forth by the hotel management. Any disruptive or disrespectful conduct, including but not limited to noise disturbances, damage to property, or failure to comply with hotel policies, will not be tolerated. We emphasize the importance of representing our organization with the utmost respect and responsibility, both on and off the ice, ensuring a positive experience for all participants and contributing to the overall success of the event.
Tournament Rules/Policies
Adherence to Tournament Policies and Rules:
All players, coaches, and attendees must respect and adhere to the ideas, policies, and rules determined by the host association. Avoid any forms of cheating, dishonesty, or unsportsmanlike conduct and refrain from any behavior that may be detrimental to the image of Hockey or the tournament. Non-compliance may result in disciplinary action.
Curfew
In regards to a curfew for your players, that will be left at the discretion of the team officials.
Below are VFIHA Codes of Conduct and the BC Hockey Policy Manual which outline the expectations and prohibitions. Parents are required to review these with their players prior to attending the tournament.
