Introducing our 2022-23 rep coaches
VFIHA is pleased to introduce our U13 A, U15 A and U18 A coaches for the 2022-23 season.
U18 A – Owen Hart
We are excited to welcome Owen to the VFIHA family for his first season with the Vancouver Angels!
Owen grew up in Whistler and spent two years (2016-17 and 2017-18) in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) with the Princeton Posse and Revelstoke Grizzlies. In addition to coaching our U18 A team, Owen is a Program Coordinator and Lead Coach with Leslie Global Sports and Recruiter for the West Coast Prep Camp.
U15 A – Haneet Parhar and Shay McConnell
We are excited to welcome Haneet and Shay to the VFIHA family for their first season with the Vancouver Angels!
Haneet is from West Vancouver, and played two seasons in the JWHL for the Pacific Steelers before five seasons as a forward with the University of British Columbia, playing a key role in UBC’s back-to-back Canada West championships in 2015-16 and 2016-17. She has coached U15 A for the North Shore Avalanche, and spent two seasons behind the bench for the University of British Columbia (2018-19 and 2021-22).
Shay grew up in Port Alberni, and played for Ontario Hockey Academy and Team BC before suiting up as a forward for the University of British Columbia from 2017-18 to 2021-22.
U13 A – Emily Froese and Jaime Yee
Emily and Jaime are returning for their fourth season as the coaches of our U13 A team!
Both grew up playing hockey with VFIHA, with Emily starting in U9 and Jaime in U7. Emily, a forward, and Jaime, a defender, played rep hockey with VFIHA from U13 to U18. They have spent the last few seasons in the South Coast Women’s Hockey League, winning the BC Hockey Senior Female AA Championships earlier this year with the North Shore Rebels.
Emily and Jaime both have experience teaching skating for the City of Vancouver and Emily has coached for Leslie Global Sports. Away from the rink, Emily is an elementary school teacher, and Jaime is an archaeologist.
We would like to wish all the best and extend our sincerest gratitudes to former coaches Katie Gaskin (U18 A) and Sandra Gans (U15 A), who are moving on to exciting new career and education opportunities this season.
