Donate gear to Tupper Secondary’s girls hockey program
VFIHA coaches Todd Hickling and Ed Jay are starting a girls hockey program at Sir Charles Tupper Secondary School, and are looking for donations of gently-used hockey gear. The program is for any girls from Tupper who wants to play hockey, regardless of experience. Fifty percent of the girls who attended the program’s preliminary meeting have never played hockey before and are keen to try it. The program is intended to be low-barrier, and players who have not played hockey before will be able to borrow gear rather than purchase it. This is where the program needs your help!
Todd and Ed are looking for gear that will fit high school girls. They need everything from skates to helmets, and all the gear in between. If you can help, please drop off your donations at one of the following two locations:
– 2862 W38th Ave (please leave the gear on the front porch under the black table)
– 614 E21st Ave (please leave the gear on the porch)
The girls will be hitting the ice for the first time on December 12. Donations will be gratefully accepted until December 9. If you have gear to donate, but cannot drop it off, please contact Todd to arrange for pick-up. If you have gear to donate after December 9, please contact Todd. He is looking to build a gear library for the program, so will gladly take donations at any time.
