Scholarships
Participants in the Vancouver Girls Ice Hockey Association playing sports competitively or attending these selected secondary schools may be eligible to apply for scholarships including:
British Columbia Hockey:
BC Hockey Scholarships - $500.00 to $1000.00
*Scholarships are awarded annually to BC Hockey registered members.
*Recognition given to those who develop their academic career aspirations while at the same time nourishing their interest in hockey.
*Applications are available between January 15 and April 30 and reviewed by a selection committee.
Killarney Secondary School:
Killarney Community Society - Leadership Bursary - $500.00
*Student should be in need of financial assistance for post secondary education; have been involved and made a significant volunteer contribution to the community.
*It is expected that the recipient will apply this bursary towards furthering his/her education at the post secondary level.
Moshe Feldhammer Bursay - $500.00
*Student works, volunteers or is pursuing a career in working with children/people with physical or mental challenges. (At least 2 hours per week).
*Student has fitness and outdoor recreational activities as an integral part of their lifestyle.
*Student has to have the ability to put others or the community before him/herself; should exhibit leadership and facilitation skills, encourages, support and treats others as equals.
*It is expected that the recipient will apply this bursary towards furthering his/her education at the post secondary level.
David Thompson Secondary School:
Killarney Community Society - Leadership Bursary - $500.00
*Student should be in need of financial assistance for post secondary education; have been involved and made a significant volunteer contribution to the community.
*It is expected that the recipient will apply this bursary towards furthering his/her education at the post secondary level.
Killarney Community Society Scholarship - $500.00
*Honour student in academics; must have been involved in Killarney Community Centre activities, or have worked at the Centre and/or have other community involvement.
*It is expected that the recipient will apply this scholarship towards furthering his/her education at the post secondary level.
Killarney Recreation Complex:
Ian MacKay Memorial Scholarship - $500.00
*A community member of the Killarney Region (Secondary School Graduate); pursuing post-secondary education – (apprenticeship, technical school, college and or university).
*Involved in the community and Killarney Community Centre (e.g. volunteering, sports, fine arts, youth programs etc); hold a current Killarney Community Centre Membership.
Killarney Community Centre Society- Leadership Legacy Scholarship - $500.00
*A community member of the Killarney Region (Secondary School Graduate); pursuing post-secondary education – (apprenticeship, technical school, college and or university)
*Involved in the community and Killarney Community Centre (e.g. volunteering, sports, fine arts, youth programs etc); demonstrated leadership capacity during community involvement; hold a current Killarney Community Centre Membership
Harry Jerome Memorial Scholarship - $500.00
*Eligible applicants must be residents of British Columbia and matriculating students progressing to full-time post secondary study. Scholarship(s) will be awarded to individual(s) who: have demonstrated exceptional ability and show considerable promise in Track & Field, Road or Cross Country Running (Athletics); demonstrate financial need; have attained an acceptable academic record and; have demonstrated qualities of character and leadership.
*It is expected that the recipient will apply this bursary towards furthering his/her education at the post secondary level
