Welcome to Vancouver Girls Ice Hockey

Our Vancouver Girls Ice Hockey organization is growing and all girls are eligible to play from ages four/five through 19 in the City of Vancouver, including the UBC Endowment Lands. We attract all skill levels and encourage new players to register at any level of play and join the Vancouver Angels teams.

The 2012/2013 Angels season is underway and includes Novice to Midget age category teams playing House league and at higher level Rep. Canadian girls are taking to the ice in record numbers and our association promotes the development of strong skills, no body checking play, and great fun!

The Vancouver Angels are excited to announce an association wide initiative designed to significantly boost the performance of our players through our Player Development and Coach Mentorship Initiative with the Richmond Olympic Oval’s High Performance Team (http://richmondoval.ca/perform/), on ice coach Nate Leslie of Leslie Global Sports (www.lgsports.ca) and goalie coach Pasco Valana of Elite Goalies Canada (www.elitegoalies.ca). Throughout the 2012-13 season, every team in the Association, together with their coaches, will be scheduled every second week to participate in a dynamic and fun on-ice development sessions at the Richmond Olympic Oval.

The Vancouver Girls Ice Hockey Angels reign supreme and you can register to participate in one of the fastest growing sports in the world. Our players have a passion for hockey; they follow female hockey role models including Hayley Wickenheiser and Cassie Campbell and see the success female hockey enjoys at local, National and Olympic-level tournaments.

“I play hockey because I love everything about the game – the emotion, discipline, skill and teamwork.”
Hayley Wickenheiser, Captain Canada’s Women’s 2010 Olympic Gold Medal Team

“It's a passion these girls have for the game I think no other country understands yet. We're born with hockey sticks in our hands.”

Cassie Campbell, Captain Canada’s National Women’s Team from 2001 to 2006.

The Vancouver Angels Bantam A team won Silver in their Bantam AA divivison at the 2013 Martin Luther King Gilrs/Women's Ice Hockey Tournament in San Jose, California, on the week-end of January 18th to 21st. Winning their first three games and tieing the fourth of the round robin, they qualified for the final game against the Abbotsford Bantam A team, losing a very close game by 0 to 1.

Of course these events don't happen without experienced parents who know to bring the hotel blanket to the rink to keep warm!
